Xiyu Lin is an LA-based production designer originally from Jiangsu, China. She graduated from the China Academy of Arts with a B.A. in Exhibition Design. She worked as a scene designer and designed scenery for several museums in China. After a study tour from Japan, she moved to LA. She received her first M.F.A. in Stage Design from CSULB and her second M.F.A. in Production Design from the American Film Institute (AFI).
Xiyu’s first film job happened while she studied at AFI Conservatory; a short film titled “BLOCKS” was one of the AFI DWW films that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020. Ever since, Xiyu realized Production Design was the perfect career to mold all her creative interests under one roof.
The narrative she production-designed has been selected or awarded at film festivals in the U.S. and internationally; including the Tribeca Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, SXSW, AFI FEST, Palm Springs International Film Festival, Student Emmy, Sitges Film Festival, Warsaw International Film Festival, Shanghai International Film Festival, FIRST International Film Festival, Moscow International Film Festival, CAA Moebius Showcase, Krakow Film Festival, etc.
Xiyu completed her first feature film, The Harbinger, in New York State in 2021. From 2022 to 2025, she completed another six features.
Xiyu is a member of the Production Designers Collective (PDC). Now, she's based in Los Angeles and works internationally.
